Searching for The Freie Stadt Danzig map with street names

Good evening,

When taking and describing photographs I need to know old street names. I have got a collection of various city maps. Only some of them contains street names and these are only Main City maps. What I miss are street names of suburbs like Stolzenberg or Heubude.

A the moment I am describing photos from trip into old Stolzenberg. I am unable to find relevant street names. Web sites like http://www.danzig-online.pl/nazwy/uliced.html doesn't help as they don't contain small or less popular names.

The best would be detailed City Plan circa 1940. Can anyone point me a place with digital scan of the map like this or help me in another way?

I fear that I have to disappoint you. In my knowledge such a digital scan does not exist. But... - if you need an almost perfect "translation" of all streets just call www.danzig.at

Thank you for a fast response and information.

www.danzig.at has similar information (and lack of it) as www.danzig-online.pl. I thought about these web sites as great source of street names as long as I didn't need it. They miss for example name of a street
ul. Biskupa Andrzeja Wronki 18
and two neighbor intersecting streets: ul. Buczka and ul. Hirszwelda.

On some of my maps (found on the Internet) there are street names in suburbs. However suburbs are incomplete or not every street has a name or map is too old. I have a hope that somewhere I will find a more comprehensive map.

The good thing is that I can use geo-location information and embed it into image. Still having old street name in the title of a photograph would be nice. Especialy for audience who does not know current names but remembers the olds.

I've been looking around for a strret map of Danzig, containing German street names AND relevant house numbers, covering as much area of old Danzig as possible, high resolution for a good result if zooming in. These requirements result in much information correlating with hugh file size. Nevertheless I succeeded in finding one that corresponds to MINE requests.

it may be of no great help for You. However I have a "Historischer Stadtplan". It shows old and new Street names from Danzig and some suburbs. Stolzenberg is not part of it, but Sopot/Zoppot, Jelitkowo/Glettkau, Brzeźno/Brösen, Nowy Port/Neufahrwasser, Wrzeszcz/Langfuhr and Stogi/Heubude.

Peter. Thank you for your time you have spent on research. This map is know to me. The map is one of the best I have. I rely much on it.

The map covers Stolzenberg poorly because it is little too old. 1933. Most of the building are circa 1940. Nevertheless I have managed to find all street names I needed. I have done this by googling and reading various texts.

Soon I will present an album of present Stolzenberg in areas known to people in 1940-1945.
